UNM PAÍS

The UNM Physics & Astronomy Interdisciplinary Sciences Building (PAÍS) is a cutting-edge research center that houses physics and astronomy as well as interdisciplinary sciences, including the Center for Stable Isotopes, Bioinformatics and Genomics, Comparative Human Primate Physiology Center, Radiocarbon Center, Spatial Data Center, Transmission Electron Microscope and Photonics, and Optics Research. The facility features an interior living room, laboratories, classrooms, a larger Colloquium classroom, offices, and group-focused spaces. The four-story, high-performance laboratory block meets low vibration research space criterion E (VC-E) — 3.12 microns/second, minimization of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). The project included the removal of a 60,000 sq. ft. reservoir built in 1924. Registered with the certification goal of LEED Gold®.
