Located at the top of the Sandia Peak and accessible via the Sandia Peak Tramway, the new Ten 3 restaurant is located in the same spot as the original High Finance Restaurant. The new restaurant maximizes the incredible western valley views, the building’s jagged front traces the mountain and sits higher and sits closer to the rim than the previous restaurant. The eastern and western facing walls both feature floor to ceiling windows; and the walkway that was in front of the previous structure was eliminated. The restaurant features both a back of house kitchen and a display kitchen.
Named for its location at 10,300 feet above sea level, the remote site which was exposed to the elements resulted in numerous challenges for the construction team. Winter’s snow fall makes outdoor construction nearly impossible and even summer thunder and lightning storms made construction hazardous. Construction crews, material and equipment were brought to the site via national forest service road or the Tram cars making basic site access difficult and time consuming.
