The Blacksmith Shop at the Yards

The portion of the rail yards, known as the “Blacksmith Shop,” had suffered years of vacancy and neglect since its construction in 1916. The City of Albuquerque selected the Design-Build Team, led by Bradbury Stamm Construction, to improve the Blacksmith Shop. The goal was to ensure that the Blacksmith Shop met all applicable building and safety codes so that it can temporarily be used for public events. Site improvements to the northern portion of the rail yards property include additional parking, ADA accessibility to the shop, public toilets, a staging area, trash collection, and fire truck access and pathways to fire “safe dispersal” areas.
